HAART OF KENT COUNTY FOOTBALL LEAGUE
DIVISION 1
Forest Hill Park 1 – 1 Chipstead
Chipstead returned from a difficult away fixture to Forest Hill Park with a well-deserved share of the spoils.
Although Chipstead dominated the first period, with one effort striking the bar and another 2 attempts denied by goal line clearances, they turned round with nothing to show for all their enterprising play.
The hosts came more into the game after the break and took the lead midway through the half. From a Chipstead corner, Park’s keeper fisted the ball clear and within seconds the ball was in the back of the Chipstead net. Chipstead rallied, with Tom Wilken coming on to replace Herve Zaha as part of a tactical switch, and good play down the right flank saw Marcus Heddon play a ball into the middle where Liam Smith was on hand to poke home his 13th for the season from close range. With youngster Joffie Shea coming on to add width and trickery in the final 15 minutes, Chipstead pressed relentlessly for a winner, which unfortunately wasn’t to come. Although disappointed not to have taken all 3 points, coming back so strongly after going a goal down was typical of the character of the team this season.
This week, Chipstead travel to play mid-table Coney Hall in another league encounter.
