Success for U8s at Langton Green Tournament - 14-06-2008

Congratulations to Chipstead Juniors FC U8s, who finished winners of the Langton Green Football Fiesta for their age group. The team won 7 and drew 2 of their 9 qualifying matches to top their group, scoring 19 goals and conceding just 2 in the process. They then went on to defeat East Grinstead Inter in the semis, with Calum Gallagher netting the only goal. The final against East Grinstead AC was a tight affair with neither team able to find the net after full time and golden goal extra time. The Chipstead boys finally won 4-3 on penalties with Cameron Hill netting the winner. Calum Gallagher finished top scorer with 9 goals, with Henry Jones close behind on 8. This was an excellent performance from all 9 Chipstead boys in what is widely regarded as one of the toughest summer tournaments in the Kent & Sussex area.

Chipstead’s U13s also did extremely well to finish runners up, whilst the U7s won their group only to go down 1-0 to Tonbridge Juniors in the semis. Chipstead’s other junior teams also played very well, with the U14s and U12s narrowly missing out on getting to the final stages. The U10s finished 3rd in their group whilst the two U9 teams each finished 4th in their qualifying groups of 10 teams.

The club would like to compliment Langton Green on an extremely well organized tournament.
