July Newsletter - 17-07-2008CHIPSTEAD FOOTBALL CLUB - JULY 2008 NEWSLETTER Chipstead FC is celebrating following the promotion of its 1st team to Division 1 West of the Vandanel Kent County Football League. A decision to promote the two 3rd placed teams from Divisions 2 East and West into Division 1 was announced at the League AGM on Tuesday 10th June. Achieving Intermediate Club status is a huge boost for us and means that our junior teams are now eligible to play in the Kent Youth League. Football training has re-commenced Tuesdays and Thursdays on Chipstead Recreation Ground starting at 1845. Anyone interested in playing for the club or helping out with the administration is invited to come along. Our junior club also had something to celebrate when it was informed by the Crowborough League that it had won 2 sportsmanship awards for 2007/2008. The U9s won their division’s award, whilst the club won the mini-soccer club award for best overall sportsmanship and administration. Our U13s also celebrated winning the league last year. Our 2 summer coaching schools (Saturday mornings for 4 – 6 year olds and Wednesday afternoons for 7 – 10 year olds) have now come to an end. These were again extremely popular; our thanks to those coaches who helped out. Plans are already underway for the new season; we will be running 6 mini-soccer teams (2 each at U9, U10 and U11) and 11 a side teams at U12, U13, U14 x 2, U15 and U17. Sadly, we will no longer be able to continue with a girls’ team at U15 due to players either taking up other sports or moving on. Establishing a girls’ team has, however, been a huge success and we are delighted that 3 of our girls are now training with Millwall Ladies; we wish Sophie Worsfold, Harriet Clark and Rebecca Hafford all the best in the football careers. Our various junior teams have had lots of fun competing in a number of summer tournaments. This has been a great experience for many of our youngsters, giving them a first opportunity of playing in competitive matches. Whilst our junior 11 a side teams will shortly be starting their pre-season training, our younger ones will have to wait till September 13th before they start back on Saturday mornings. Finally, our club will be involved in this year’s Chipstead Fete and a number of football activities are being lined up. This takes place Saturday 6th September, on Chipstead Recreation Ground, from 1230 till 1630. We hope that many of our youngsters will be able to get along with their parents to enjoy the day. The club will also have a registration tent at the event so parents will be able to enrol their children for the new season. more news articles... | Upcoming eventsLatest newsPlayers Wanted for U15s 28-10-2008 Manager of Month Award to Chipstead Reserves' Dave Norburn 11-10-2008 Road Works - Update 26-09-2008 Charter Standard Club
